PEPA Refinery Overhaul for Comprehensive Maintenance
Date: December 20, 2018
Under the auspices of the Petroleum Exploration and Production Authority (PEPA).
In line with a planned maintenance shutdown aimed at reviving the refinery’s production capacity and ensuring its continued efficiency, the refinery underwent a comprehensive maintenance, inspection, and the replacement of outdated machinery, including the installation of advanced catalysts. The maintenance strategy not only aimed to optimize operational costs but also to maintain a reliable equipment and system.
The temporary closure of the Marib refinery temporarily impacted the production of diesel and gasoline. However, this maintenance was imperative to guarantee the continued operation of the refinery. By intervening in its components, the objective was to enhance energy efficiency, ensure consistent operations, maintain safety integrity, and extend the overall lifespan.
The maintenance process included a thorough examination and inspection of critical equipment that couldn’t be addressed during the regular operation of the facility. It encompassed items that had exhibited issues or necessitated routine inspections.
It’s worth noting that not only were planned tasks effectively executed, but numerous critical tasks that arose unexpectedly were also successfully completed during this maintenance shutdown.
All maintenance and inspection activities were accomplished within a concise period of 24 days. This efficient operation reflects PEPA’s dedication to maintaining and enhancing the operational capabilities of the Marib refinery.
